Sharon, our beloved dorm Mom, soccer Mom, and actual Mom, is sick - she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in late 2016. Over the last months, she has undergone a number of different treatment protocols. After completing her most recent protocol, although her doctor initially thought she was in remission, her cancer came back aggressively and in different forms. Due to her weakened condition from the recent treatment protocols, she is not able to re-engage the desired conventional protocols available in Taiwan for 3 to 6 months. However, because of the speed with which the cancer is moving, she can't wait for her body to recover to take action. This blog is setup to keep you up to date on how Sharon is doing.

10/29

Dear Ones,

Sharon and I have been apart now for just over a week.    With the quick growth of that “lump” that developed beneath the one that was surgically removed Sharon elected to act fast so got a ticket and took off even before I got back from the soccer trip to Malaysia.  When I returned  she’d already been gone several days.   We are so thankful to so many staff members at Morrison who’ve given their time to help with dorm coverage.  Every year in the dorm is great but this year’s group of students in the McGill Dorm seems to be especially well equipped to be supportive in this situation.

Lana Rempel is “walking” with Sharon each step of the way on this journey she is on now.   It puts my heart at ease that my wife is not alone and has a friend who is so capable,  knowledgeable and engaging.  Thank you Lana (and Hans).  The current treatment Sharon is undergoing has been difficult physically, however, when I’ve spoken to them recently there is a positive feeling between them that it is helping.  We are full of praise to God that Sharon’s follicular lymphoma appears to be under control but we ask for continued prayer for the healing of this large B cell lymphoma that has developed.  Specifically Sharon has asked for prayer for strength for her body as she battles.

The duration of this journey remains unclear at this point.   We are sort of expecting to be back together for Thanksgiving.  For now we are just taking it one day at a time and will enjoy being side by side when that day comes.   In the meantime we thank you for your vigilance and support.

Sincerely,

Terry for Sharon
