Sharon, our beloved dorm Mom, soccer Mom, and actual Mom, is sick - she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in late 2016. Over the last months, she has undergone a number of different treatment protocols. After completing her most recent protocol, although her doctor initially thought she was in remission, her cancer came back aggressively and in different forms. Due to her weakened condition from the recent treatment protocols, she is not able to re-engage the desired conventional protocols available in Taiwan for 3 to 6 months. However, because of the speed with which the cancer is moving, she can't wait for her body to recover to take action. This blog is setup to keep you up to date on how Sharon is doing.

11/10.

What to say? Plus and minus I guess. +Sharon slept last night. -This morning Dr. Sacks confirmed "no canabis" in the ICU. +Dr Sacks was very impressed with the ease with which Sharon is managing the bronchostomy.  She mentioned some "dizziness" to him and his face broke into a grin as he said, "never had that complaint yet and it's a bit crazy because there's a lot else that should be bothering you." - Night nurse went off duty and she'd been amazing. +New day nurse is every bit the equal of the night nurse in the 'amazing' department. After getting to know each other a bit And discovering a common faith she asked Gwenn and I if we'd like to pray together. We both burst into tears and whimpered "yes ...but you'll have to do it."  She prayed such a lovely faith filled prayer over a calm Sharon. - Time for Sister Gwenn to leave.  + She'll be back next week. Also first of many guests to come arrive, my dorm parents from when I was in High School at Morrison. A cool side note, my dorm mom's father gave birth to me. They are now in counseling ministry., a good fit for me at the moment.   More prayer with the amazing day nurse.  - No food for Sharon in the last 4 days. + A feeding tube going in. - Could take up to 2 hours to install. + Sharon fell asleep during the process. "Never heard of that before." said the competent attendant. Sharon complimented him on his patience.  How she could determine that when she was asleep is beyond me but it goes on the list as a positive. - Nurses are busy and machines are beeping. No food going through the tube yet. + Our sons arrive. - going to be tough to get this girl to take enough rest as she keeps writing notes, been through an entire paper pad already. I suggested we write the notes on her phone but as so many of you know Sharon likes pen and paper.  The best note was one  suggesting a job opportunity for a former dormie at a school here in SD that she heard needs that persons expertise. That one was written when she was pretty loopy on heavier drugs. + She's got energy this girl.  At this point it looks like lots more Sharon yet to come. PTL
