Sharon, our beloved dorm Mom, soccer Mom, and actual Mom, is sick - she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in late 2016. Over the last months, she has undergone a number of different treatment protocols. After completing her most recent protocol, although her doctor initially thought she was in remission, her cancer came back aggressively and in different forms. Due to her weakened condition from the recent treatment protocols, she is not able to re-engage the desired conventional protocols available in Taiwan for 3 to 6 months. However, because of the speed with which the cancer is moving, she can't wait for her body to recover to take action. This blog is setup to keep you up to date on how Sharon is doing.

11/15

Sharon finally settled in during the wee hours and "slept" some of the night, albeit still with very laboured breathing. This morning we met with Dr. Norton and got a clear, honest and loving picture of the status of her lymphoma.  Sharon is being placed on hospice here in the hospital.  While not nearly as successful as yesterday's "date" she's been up and out of bed for coffee this morning as well as winning a family game of Pass the Pigs, much to Marks chagrin as he was close behind.  There’s more to say but this will suffice for now.

  3. Terry, I went down that difficult and too quick road with Doris back in 2004. So it is with great sadness that I read what you are going through. Blessings to Sharon, you, the boys, other relatives, and former dorm students at this time. I notified Kael and Daniel about Sharon since she played a large part in their spiritual and educational lives in Taiwan. One thing I learned from close missionary friends when I was in your shoes was that sometimes people we love are waiting for us to give them permission to go and be with Jesus. He will take care of them a lot better than we were ever able to do even though we deeply loved them for many years. Grace and peace to you all in the name of Jesus.

  10. As one of the many people to (over and over again) experience God's love in the form and style of Sharon...there are not enough words to say "thank you" and feel that the thanks match the debt.

  11. Joe and I continue to pray for peace and comfort. So glad Uncle Art, Gwenn and the boys are surrounding both of you in love. I love that the nurses you have had are also filled with God's love. Joe and Millie

  12. Love you guys. Elliot and I are praying constantly. I just hate cancer. I'm getting to know Sharon so much more through the posts people are posting and man, what a beauty God made. I'm thankful for her life.
God is BIG Terry! We don't always get to understand his ways but keep trusting Him. He is so BIG. The Father knows your pain. Elliot and I love you, brother and sister Terry and Sharon.

  13. Known Sharon my whole life. Earliest memory is ping pong at DaChia. Most recent (some 40 years later) an evening with the Bonsai's on my roof just several weeks ago. In between, countless more great memories! "Full of God given grace and concern for others..." That's what comes to mind when I think of you over the years Sharon! Okay, your laugh comes to mind as well! :-). You guys have been a consistent and steady presence... Thank you!

  15. What a wonderful welcomer (is that a word?) Sharon is and what fond memories we have of entering that warm, whimsical, charming world known as the McGill Dorm. Holli and I so fondly recall our precious time visiting with you, most recently in 2015, and all the delightful conversations and laughter we shared with you then. Our prayers are with you all during this time. Thank you for sharing your hearts, as you’ve always so generously done, while you walk through this challenging but grace-filled time.
